Spiritual Awareness – do you have it?
It’s happened to me ever since I can remember. I was an average kid – chasing girls, I loved sports, and I enjoyed the company of my good friends. But every now and then, I would notice something.
Maybe I would think about a friend who I hadn’t seen in long time and the next day they would show up. Or maybe I would have a unique dream while asleep and then the event would occur a few days later.
As I grew up, I would ask my friends and family about these experiences. I would usually get a look of concern or maybe of confusion. There was this big thing happening in my life; but no one was talking about it or exploring it.
To me it felt like there was a big purple elephant in the closet- everyone knew it was there-but it wasn’t being acknowledged.
I just could not accept that we are all just naked apes, or these “bio-mechanical” machines simply going through life on autopilot with the mere purpose of surviving, reproducing, consuming, and maybe a little occasional enjoyment. This seemed too mundane, predictable, boring, empty and meaningless to me. There was more going on and I was going to find out what it was about. Ironically, I didn’t care about being intuitive; I just wanted a deeper knowledge, a deeper understanding of that purple elephant.
Spiritual Awareness – A Long And Expensive Journey
I researched and completed many systems of training – NLP, Landmark Forum, Tony Robbins, the Silva Method, Wayne Dyer, Ken Keys, Carlos Castaneda, and Eastern Meditation. I bought and read literally thousands of books. While I learned a lot about myself and gained much more self control and awareness, I still hadn’t found that big secret which I knew was there.
After years of searching, I finally stumbled upon a method of spiritual/personal development which allowed me to better understand that deeper reality, of which I had seen glimpses my whole life. Not only were many of my questions answered, with a little bit of work and persistence, I was able to use that spiritual awareness to improve every aspect of my life.
My psychic ability began to bloom. Because I was able to see factors occurring beyond the five senses, I was able to make better decisions, see the deeper meaning behind the events in my life, and sense the true motivations and feelings of the people I encountered.
I also gained the ability to see what would often happen in the future, before I made decisions. This all began to save me from much suffering, heart ache, and pain that I would have experienced if I didn’t have that developed ability.
I also gained the ability to connect with other people on a deeper, more intense level. This brought more depth and fulfillment to my relationships and friendships. Along with this awareness came the ability to also influence more of what I was attracting into my life on a spiritual level.
Instead of being a victim of circumstance, I gained the ability to manifest the specific kinds of people, the resources, and other experiences that I desired.
Of course, there are so many more benefits such as being to spiritually heal myself and others of illness, a great sense of peace in my day to day life, and the sense of never being alone – being connected to a force much greater than myself.
I don’t claim to be enlightened and I am not bragging about myself as I share these experiences with you. My intention is to encourage you to also question and take steps to discover this deeper reality, if you aren’t already. We all have the ability to bring this type of awareness into our lives, although most people choose not to do so.
Spiritual Awareness – The Thread Which Weaves Life Together
I’ve had several clients and friends over the years that, from the outside, seemed to have everything. I remember a conversation I had with a very successful well-known actress. She was physically beautiful. She had the fame that most people only dream of – roles in popular high budget movies, red carpet introductions, you name it.
This actress had an attractive, smart, wealthy husband. She had all of the physical possessions – huge houses, luxury cars, and a bank account full of money. But she sat there with me and sobbed uncontrollably. She confided that she had once thought these things would make her happy, but now that she had it all, she was still empty and alone. I see this in people more than I’d like to admit.
Some people have described it as a deep feeling that something was always missing and others have described it as a deep sense of always being disconnected or alone.
If you haven’t noticed it already, there is a spiritual force that you are connected to. If you aren’t aware of this presence in everything that you do in life, in every moment, you are missing out on the greatest experience available to you.
Spiritual Awareness – Here Is A Test For You
Is your day to day experience full of joy, satisfaction, peacefulness, appreciation, and compassion? Or are you like most people, going throughout the day with scattered feelings of regret, fear, resentment, boredom, shame, anger, and loneliness? Or do you simply have a deep feeling inside that there has to be more to life, more to discover, more than what you are experiencing on a regular basis?
If you are like most people, and your day is filled with more pain and stagnation than joy and peacefulness, maybe the universe is trying to tell you something. Maybe these undesirable emotions are a signal to you that something is missing. Maybe they are warning you, just like a hot flame warns you when you get near, to do something else, to go in a different direction.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the universe’s way of calling you to open yourself up and let the force of a higher power into your life. There is a reason for everything, and just maybe, this is the reason, the gift behind pain and suffering.
What Science Has To Say About Spirituality
The potential of spiritual awareness has been proven to exist by some of the most credible sources, such as Princeton University, Duke University, the United States Army, University Of Arizona, California Pacific Medical Center, and the United Nations.
One of my favorite leaders of revealing this deeper level of reality is the late Dr. David Bohm PhD, who was a physics professor at Berkeley University, Princeton University, and a protégé and close friend of Albert Einstein. Dr. Bohm was a pioneer in the field of quantum mechanics and explained reality as the “Implicate and Explicate Order.”
The Explicate Order is the reality which most people only perceive. In this perception of reality, everything is separated, time and space are structured and logical, and everything seems mechanical and predictable. Although it can be difficult to comprehend, Dr. Bohm revealed through scientific research that this level of reality is a mere illusion, only smoke and mirrors.
In the Implicate Order of reality, everything is connected and interacting with a powerful universal intelligence (scientist call it the unified field), time and space is much more flexible and surreal, and everything is much more magical and exciting. Although most people do not perceive this level of reality, it is a fundamental truth and it exists, whether anyone believes it or not.
There is so much more research from the credible scientists around the globe which reveals this vastness that life has to offer. Not only does this deeper realty exist and we as individuals can become aware of it, the benefits of this deeper spiritual awareness have been researched and proven to exist. For example, there is a great deal of research that proves various systems of meditation lead to lower rates of clinical depression, heart disease, and diabetes.
On top of this, these practices bring about more peace, romantic intimacy, sense of meaning, and healthiness in the lives of the practitioners.
Spiritual Awareness – How To Develop Your Own Awareness And Use Of A Deeper Spiritual Reality
There are many paths that can open this door for you. Some are slower and some will give you results more quickly. Some are full of dogma and rituals and some are straight to the point. Different approaches will be appropriate for different people. You have to find a something that fits for you.
As far as meditation, not all systems require you to sit in a lotus position and attempt to not think about anything for hours at a time. There are many different flavors or development, so don’t let the common misconceptions about these things stop you.
The system of training that I went through and that I currently teach through my Life Mastery Program is an approach which works more quickly for most students, although it can be a rougher (more intense) path than other approaches. You may find this suitable as I teach students by correspondence throughout the world. You may also be able to find something locally in your area which will give you the results you desire.
Books are great, but as the old saying goes “trying to gain enlightenment by reading is similar to trying to scratch an inch on you foot through your shoe.” Books are intellectual based, and what we are talking about here has little to do with the intellect. I’m more an advocate of tested and researched methods which involve exercises (such as visualizations, moving energy around in your body, working with the energy centers in the body, etc).
Regardless of what path you choose, I encourage you to take the step to connect with the deeper spiritual force within you – today. One way or another, get this presence in every aspect of your life. Life will never be the same. You will benefit.
You may never again be asked to take this action in your life. Act while it is fresh in your mind.
Don’t let this opportunity slip away as so many people do every day.
