Any thoughts on why I have such bad luck. . Is it my empathy?

No. You are just going through a trial which is teaching you. Focus on gratitude and thank your higher power for what is good and right in your life. Keep a gratitude journal too. Your “luck” will change and you will begin to manifest better things.
I believe that life is balanced. I believe your such a good person and strong that these occurrences are there to teach and benefit you. I don’t have to say much more because you’re the strong person who just benefits because of your abilities to cope and grow. In the long run, you can anticipate a large reward, for sure.
