Am I wasting my time waiting for this man

I met a policeman in 2008 by some incident near my house. We became very good friends, he popped in when he could. His divorced I’m a widow. In Jan, 2016 He SMSed my daughter over something, I became jealous & questioned him. He said he just responded to her question. Since then he just stayed away. Always seemed to evade my invitations etc. He then left the force I don’t have his number. I felt that his son that suffers from Autism was a roblem & he dint want a relationship with me. I still miss him so much I wish he would come back to me. I think he felt the same way about me.
